Dr. Tully has been a partner veterinarian at Swine Health Professionals Ltd. in Manitoba since 2002. As a swine practitioner, Dr. Tully has been involved in providing health and production service to various hog producers in Manitoba including small family farms, large iso-wean facilities, AI centers, genetic supplies and many farrow-to-finish farms. Dr. Tully’s focus within his practice has been to promote preventative health solutions to swine farms in order to enhance animal welfare, improve farm productivity, and help farms to achieve their goals.

A partner in Swine Health Professionals, Dr. Chappell’s work includes breeding stock and commercial on farm health monitoring, improving farm production parameters, CQA/ACA validation, and regulatory inspection of export hogs.
Dr. Chappell works closely with the Manitoba Pork Council to deliver National Biosecurity Standards, is actively involved in creating SDS Veterinary Data Analytics, and is also a part of the National Disease Surveillance working group. Focusing on disease surveillance on a farm level, Dr. Chappell looks at the link between health and production parameters to measure the impact of disease.

Dr. Ariza is one of our associate veterinarians. His work includes on farm health monitoring, monitoring and improving farm production parameters, biosecurity on farm enhancement and audits, CPE validations, and regulatory inspection of export hogs and the collection and submission of samples as required. As a certified auditor for PACCO (Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization) and ASQ (American Society for Quality), Dr. Ariza also specializes in the auditing of on-farm and slaughter animal welfare as well as HACCP based food safety audits.

An associate veterinarian with SHP, Dr. Hodge is also board certified in veterinary preventative medicine. Her work includes on farm health monitoring and regulatory inspection of export hogs. She is also using her training in public health to help develop educational courses for producers and conducting on-farm research.

Dennis is indispensable. He assists our veterinarians from on farm production monitoring, troubleshooting and staff training, CPE validation, to collection and submission of samples as required. Scheduling and coordinating CIPARS (Canadian Integrated Program for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance), and coordinating, planning & implementing on-farm trials of pharmaceutical products are all on his list of responsibilities. Dennis is also a Pig Care Specialist, Improvest Specialist and PCAI trainer for SHP.

Andres is our quality assurance program (Canadian Pork Excellent) specialist. He helps farms prepare for the CPE validation and processes all paperwork for our CPE validator team; ensuring producer manuals, training, and paperwork is up to date and accurate, and submitting paperwork to the CPE program. Andres has more than 10 years of swine industry experience, having worked in nucleus genetic barns to boar studs. With a background in teaching and a passion for learning, Andres believes good training is the key to successful farming practices. He is part of our workshop team to help develop new workshops and present interactive workshops to educate farm workers.

Jolante’s primary responsibility as our export co-ordinator is the creation of the export health certificates, which allow producers to export to the USA and Mexico. This involves timely communication and coordination between the brokers, USDA, and CFIA in order to get the paperwork processed. She also takes care of all prescriptions. Her exceptional organizational and computer skills allow us to also count on her for general reception tasks, transcribing, bio-security audits, as well as uploading client files to our secure site.

Our Team wouldn’t be complete without Pam, our bookkeeper. Invoicing, creating statements, payroll, bank reconciliation, processing mail – Pam’s long list of responsibilities require diligent attention. We love her positive attitude that she brings to our team and office.
She is also responsible for making deposits, bill payments, vet reimbursements, GST and Corporate Tax Remittance, journal entries, financial reports, and year end reports.

Candace works for our auditing company, Agricultural Process Assurance, as our senior trailer inspector. Her job involves inspecting animal transport trailers prior to them being loaded with livestock to ensure they have been washed, disinfected, and dried as per biosecurity protocols.

All of the work involved with lab submissions received at SHP (spinning blood samples, labeling, lab documentation, and submitting samples) is done by Janesa. She also handles the health certificates for boar stud entry. Her highly efficient manner allows us to count on her for other general office tasks as they arise.
